US Base Closures Now Going Global

Certainly you must have heard of the military’s attempt at saving billions of tax dollars every year by closing domestic bases back in 2005. The name of this realignment of America bases was and still is to this day, the U.S. Army Base Realignment and Closure Division, or BRAC for short. While the majority of these installations were rather minor bases, there were thousands of civilian workers, per state, that were and are affected by these closings. To put it rather bluntly, these civilian workers lost their jobs long before the Great Recession hit the economy.

The benefit of these closures is that more of the tax dollar can be kept in the pockets of the powers that be or in their coffers, one or the other. The next round will definitely be a global closing of selected, seemingly, unnecessary bases and military installations. How safe do you feel now?
